about

Chantel Van T marks 2020 as the year she gives life to her solo career. Her first single, Rumble and Crawl, from her debut album Nicalochan is out July 10th. Chantel has carved out a spectacular album that announces the arrival of an independent artist with a fervent intention to both haunt and uplift the listener. Chantel is no stranger to the stage, already a familiar and renowned persona as the lead vocalist for South African, Space Rock band Diamond Thug.

"Written in the summer by the ocean in Denmark it was my first time in the north during solstice. I was alone on the shore by the small fire and out came Rumble and Crawl. The song asks questions about someone seeing you fully. Falling in love with the idea of someone rather than recognizing the whole. The song offers glimpses into me as a person. It touches on one of the themes of the album, the illusion of love, asking what redamancy truly means. "

'With haunting strings that carry Chantel’s chilling delivery, 'Rumble and Crawl' is a poignant country-esque piece off the album.'

lyrics

I am I do exist
It doesn't mean I don't think of it
I speak I breathe I perceive
Oh the way that I feel
Hello the word I know the best
Goodbye hasn't found it's place yet

Would you blame
Would you blame me
Would you blame
Would you blame me

In the air like transcendent leaves
I am still but I can't see
I rumble and crawl just like the man
Who stumbles among old broken glass
Oh it whispers through my hair
A distant burden that I bear
Sun and sea swallow me
Washing off old memories

Would you blame
Would you blame me
Would you be hypnotized by the way that I move my mouth
Or would you blame
Would you blame me
